I Got Another Part. I Think.

Last week (or was it the week before?) I blogged about having a bit part in a play online. I played a merman who harbours a secret love and writes poetry. It was quite a fun little thing to do and it also means I have a bit of a VA portfolio. It also means that I have connections.

When I sent the files over to the person I did the lines for, I told them to email me if they had any other things they thought I was suited for. I wasn't really expecting a response. I certainly wasn't expecting one as quickly as I got one. She told me that someone they knew finished a script and had three male leads. She recommended me for them and, after a bit of confusion from my end (I didn't notice she had attached a script to an email for me) I recorded the lines yesterday. I sent them off yesterday too. I still don't know if I actually had the part or anything, but it was fun to do the lines.
I really hope that I DID have the part and I'm going to be in this. As I said, it was fun to do. I even got to record a death scene. I've never had to do something like that before. I gargled, coughed, and died like a little bitch. 'Twas awesome. I hope she gets back to me soon and let's me know what's a-happening.

After this comes asking her if she knows about any paid work.

Because I can't really think of a new question, have you ever had any reason to fake a death elaborately like I did?

  1. Wow, you're on a roll, congrats man! Let's hope your lines make the cut!

Re: question: Well, my second funeral was a bit of an odd scene...

    1. Yeah I can confirm I DID have the part and she's sent them on to the guy. I'll find out later if I have to do any rerecordings. Your...second funeral?

  2. Sounds like it was fun. Unfortunately I'd need to clean up the nasally part of my voice before I'd want it recorded.

    1. It's not too hard to clean up your audio. I record about ten seconds of me breathing loudly and pressing buttons on my keyboard for the audio profile. Noise removal gets rid of most, if not all of it.

  3. It would be great to fake my death, then get a new start. I could start over in elementary school and be smarter than the other kids, and be captain of the football team. I like the cloak. You should keep making more videos and dress up all wacky in them to attract attention. Your first video did pretty good because I pimped it around on twitter and tumblr like it was one of my own videos. And people did like it A LOT ...and did share it. The audience didn't lose interest, I just didn't have time to do that with the other videos. (I am exhausted from working like a slave for the most evil corporation on earth so if you notice I barely have been updating my own stuff lately.) It just is a matter of reaching enough people because the public does like you..A LOT... look http://jimmyfungus.tumblr.com/post/86508873306/tulips-by-mark-noyce

    1. You could fake your death but I don't think you can start all over again. I know you've been sharing and everything. Thanks a lot Jimmy. It did make a difference. You're a great guy.

  5. That's great! And sounds like a lot of fun. You could get a career in doing voices for animation, I bet you'd be great at it. :D

    1. I'd enjoy it. Trust me, I'm trying to get things started in that direction. Hopefully this is the right start that gets me on the path.

  6. Elvis' first acting scene was a death scene, wasn't it?

You're taking the Elvis path to acting fame!

You'll be doing vacuous beach scenes in no time...

    1. I don't know if it was, but that would be pretty fun. I hope it doesn't end the same though.

  8. I've actually done a couple of death scenes on camera. For one of them I got so into it that I broke a chair that was sitting nearby.

  9. wow thats awesome, good for you! It sounds like you had lots of fun. I've never had to fake a death scene but I did once do background vocals for a small local film that was produced for a festival :b
