Making "Iced" Coffee

I don't know about you guys but, especially during the summer (but even during the winter actually) I'm very fond of ice cold drinks. Especially iced tea and iced coffee. They're tastier than energy drinks and as far as coffee is concerned, possibly more stimulating. Frankly I'm not entirely sure and don't want to make a claim that I can't back up. Case in point; iced coffee is pretty awesome.
Look at it. It's magnificent.
I've tried making iced tea before and I never did very well at it. I think I just wasn't it set long enough or something. No matter what I tried it would just never be enough. Which very much sucks. Most of it was still edible but so it wasn't a terrible waste. It just didn't taste very well. I tried making iced coffee and it went pretty well. Now I'm going to tell you how to do it;

1. Make coffee
2. Let it cool naturally, which takes 30 to 60 minutes
3. Put it in the fridge for a few hours.
yay for custom made cups.

It's actually that simple. It helps to let it cool down properly. My first batch turned out better than my second because I cooled it properly. I put the "iced" in quotation marks because when I told a friend what I had done, she disagreed with the semantics and said it was just very cold coffee and it needs ice cubes to be iced coffee. It's a technicality I can live with. It's odd though that I don't like cold coffee. But I do like refrigerated coffee. Eh. I'm just weird like that I guess.

What are your favourite ways to cool off in summer? Ever tried to make an iced drink yourself?

  1. I once had "frappuccino" at a friend's. It was iced coffee, but with cappuccino. My god was that good. Granted, I hadn't drunk a decent beverage in days back then, but still.

  3. I make iced coffee by pouring milk straight from the fridge into a cup, adding a teaspoon of coffee and a teaspoon of sugar and then stirring. Works like a charm.
